ROSKILDE FJORD

Black Goby

(Gobius niger).

The black goby is found everywhere in the fjord but is at its most numerous in the southern part. It prefers a soft bed where it can dig itself in. Cormorants, gulls, tern etc include it in their diet. Like the eelpout it is frequently a by-catch in eel fishing and is thrown out to the big gulls. It is not eaten by humans.
