ROSKILDE FJORD

Lion’s Mane Jellyfish

(Cyanea capillata).

The lion’s mane jellyfish is nowhere near as common as its close relative the moon jellyfish, but from time to time there can be really large numbers - as for example in the early spring of 2014, possibly as a result of the violent storm ‘Bodil’, which drove huge quantities of salty water in from Kattegat in autumn 2013.
